I also sell "Pattern Portraits" in my store that have portraits of famous people in history, which are formatted the same way. Once your students make these, you can leave them up to decorate your classroom for the remainder of the year if you choose.

What are Pattern Pictures? They are fun themed pictures with patterns behind the image. When students color the patterns in a variety of different colors, the finished product is whimsical and fun. They can then color the main image that sits in front of the patterns. These are sure to add colorful pizzazz to your classroom. For the most pep from your pictures, tell your students to use lots of different colors and try not to have two of the same colors touching.

This pack includes a "Pattern Picture" coloring sheet for Pi Day that says "I Love Pi/Pie", a pennant, writing paper formatted to be glued to the coloring sheet or the pennant (The extra-long banner option is neat!).

Ways to Use: Make a cute banner to display in your classroom on Pi Day to go along with your other activities, possibly use the writing paper and have students explain how circumference is similar to perimeter and how it is different and then connect it to the pennant, have them write about their favorite PIE or tell about a favorite pie recipe, Coloring Activity during recess or with a substitute, morning work coloring to introduce PI Day which you are celebrating later in the day, Tell how the number pi is calculated, explain why March 14 is the day to celebrate and how people across the US celebrate this day (research), to decorate your classroom or hallway display on this topic, so much more
