What educators are saying

One basic concept related to prepositions is best taught through visualization. Drawing allows students to visualize the relationships created with prepositions. Thank you for providing this resource for my ELL students.

    Description

This bundle includes three resources that can easily be incorporated to a unit on prepositions. The activities included are: Prepositions Drawing Activity, Prepositions Question Trail, Prepositions Google Form Quiz, and Preposition Picture Practice Activity.

    Resource 1: Prepositions Drawing Activity

This download is a fun and creative way to practice identifying and correctly using prepositions. My middle school students love any hands on activities that involve coloring. This assignment resembles a directed draw. They also have an opportunity to practice following directions and writing descriptions!

Students are given a set of directions. Each set of directions include prepositions. Students underline the prepositions and follow the directions that lead them to completing a drawing.

    Resource 2: Prepositions Question Trail

I created this resource as a hands-on way for students to review prepositions. In this activity, students will travel around the classroom to complete 20 questions that require them to work with the following concepts: identifying prepositions, identifying prepositional phrases, identifying the object of the preposition. Each possible answer leads students to a specific number question. If they answer all questions correctly, they should visit each question one time and return to question one (or the question where they began the activity) to complete the trail. If they find themselves repeating a question, they will need to revisit previous questions to check their answers.

This activity can be used as a fun introductory activity to a unit on prepositions to see how much your students already know or as a review at the end of a prepositions unit! You could have them complete the activity before and after the unit to compare the results.

Resource 3: Prepositions Google Form Quiz

This Google Form Identifying Prepositions quiz will test students' ability to identify the prepositions within a sentence. It consists of 15 questions. Each question gives students a sentence, and students identify a preposition within the answers choices which are words from the sentence. This Google Form test is no prep and self-grading!

Versions of this Google Form Test: There are two versions of this test included in the resource. Both versions have the same test questions but offer different numbers of answer choices so that you can accommodate your students' ability levels. Form A- 15 Questions with 4 answer choices for each question, Form B- 15 questions with 2 answer choices for each question.

Resource 4: Prepositions Picture Practice Grammar Activity

You will be given access to a folder in Google Drive that contains a teacher instruction document and the student template via Google Slides. A PDF version is also included in within the Google Drive folder. Slides can be easily printed to use as a gallery walk activity or station work.

    What's included:

    Title Slide

    Three Preposition Explanation Slides

    Example Picture Slide

    18 Student Picture Slides

Students will study a picture and then write a sentence about the picture using a given preposition correctly. After they finish their sentence, they will highlight the preposition they used. *Extension: You could have them highlight or underline the prepositional phrase.
