President Non-Fiction Reading Passages: A Comprehension by Color Activity

Included are seven reading passages about Presidents. Perfect for President's Day or just as a quick reading comprehension activity for students.

There are 4 comprehension questions included about each passage, which are all text-based and ask students to use evidence from the reading passage, which we all know our kiddos need a TON of experience with. :)

The last thing students are asked to do with the passage is use colored pencils or crayons to mark up the passages.
The students are asked to complete the following:
*Circle unknown words in RED.
*Underline three important facts in BLUE.
*Underline the descriptive words about the President in GREEN.
*Place a PURPLE box around the birthplace of the President.
*Underline in ORANGE one thing you would like to know more about.

The Lexile levels for each of the passages is in between 910L-1,100L. Yes they are a bit high, but because I had the kids close reading them, they seemed to understand them at an acceptable level in 3rd grade.

*George Washington
*John Adams
*Thomas Jefferson
*James Madison
*Abraham Lincoln
*Lyndon Johnson
*Barack Obama
