What educators are saying

This was a great review activity for preterite vs. imperfect. My students enjoyed working in groups and competing to be the first group to finish.
I've gone way overboard with resources helping me teach preterite/imperfect, but this was a great one that helped them put it into use and wasn't just a "boring old worksheet!" Gracias!

Description

A fun, interactive escape room. Use this low prep sala de escape to practice using choosing preterite vs. imperfect. These escape room activities are for use with Google Slides™ for Google Classroom™ and Google Forms™, students can submit answers through distance learning or remotely from home.

Students are stuck on a broken record, repeating the same actions, and have to solve five different "locks" to open to fix the record and "break out." Unlike other breakout room kits, this requires no additional purchases or materials other than what is included in this file. This lesson is engaging, and excellent practice for using preterite and imperfect.

Lock 1: Decide whether to use preterite or imperfect and fill in the blanks with each conjugation. Use the boxed in letters to find the code.

Lock 2: Sort the keywords between preterite and imperfect to find a two digit code.

Lock 3: Use a codebreaker to reveal how saber, querer, poder and conocer change meaning in the preterite and imperfect

Lock 4: Conjugate the verbs in the blanks using the tile letters. Add up the points on the tiles to reveal the code.

Lock 5: Conjugate the verb in the preterite or the imperfect appropriately and then find them in the word search. Unscramble the overlapping letters to find the code.
