What educators are saying

Great resource for all the levels that I teach. We reference them together when we talk about where they are currently and what they can do to increase their proficiency. Thank you!
These are great to have visible in our classrooms so students can see their descriptors for each level.

Description

Help your students grow in their path to proficiency by creating a display of what language looks like at each level. Key to self-evaluation and to helping keep teacher expectations realistic, these proficiency descriptor posters will individualize the journey for each student! This packet includes descriptors from Novice Low to Advanced Low.

For many years in the US, the national average for language proficiency after 4 years was at the Novice High and Intermediate Low line. As the push to use language in the classroom has taken root, scores have been on the rise. With nearly every state offering a Seal of Biliteracy to students who demonstrate a measurable level of proficiency, knowing what proficiency looks like has become important not only for teachers but also for students.

In IL, our Seal of Biliteracy is granted at the Intermediate High level (4-5 on the AP, i5 on the AAPPL exam). Using these printables, I'm able to help my students see how they can earn the seal or even the Commendation toward Biliteracy (Intermediate Low/Mid) in just 4 years.
