What educators are saying
My students love this book and are more engaged with these activities after every chapter to prove their understanding of the story!
Description
Punished! Novel Study
This is a complete, scaffolded novel study of the book Punished! by David Lubar. The novel study was designed to use with a small group of 4th graders, but could also be appropriate for 3rd or 5th grade depending on the reading level of the students.
It comes complete with vocabulary and comprehension questions for each chapter. There is also an additional activity/worksheet with each chapter that practices the figurative language from that chapter. Figurative Language used and explicitly taught in this book include: puns, oxymorons, anagrams and palindromes. Questions and activities are written in a way that allows students to complete the work independently or in a small group.
Comprehension questions are heavily focused on character development, and understanding of the plot. They require students to make inferences and explain their answers.
The last three pages of the document are a UNIT TEST that covers characters, plot, vocabulary and figurative speech.
