Description

Students will explain how an author uses reasons and evidence to support key points in an informational text (RI.4.8), and identify which reasons and evidence support which points (RI.5.8).  This includes determining the points an author makes and finding the evidence that supports the respective points.

These reading comprehension worksheets have a mini-lesson and notes at the top to serve as an anchor, followed by a nonfiction passage (or two) and several questions.  Tips are included next to some commonly asked questions to mentor students on how to best answer them.  Use as test prep, or to teach and practice the fundamentals of determining key ideas in a text and finding supporting details.
