Reference Sheets: Notes, Vocab., Calculator Steps, Formulas, Definitions, & More

You will find 4 PDF pages that include all the formulas, calculator steps, mathematical processes/concepts/properties, and terminology that students need in Common Core Math I/Algebra I classes.

These were created to be semester long guides to materials previously learned or previews for materials coming up. Last year we gave all of our students a copy of these on brightly colored paper (HOT PINK WORKED VERY WELL) and had them put these (pink sheets) in the very front of their notebooks. Students had to reference these “pink sheets” before asking us, their teachers, any questions. We also would give the students a few minutes with their guided notes and asked them to use their concept maps (pink sheets) and a partner to fill out as much of the notes as possible. Using the concept maps in this manner allowed the students to become more familiar with their “pink sheets”, encouraged discussions with classmates, and created more confident students because they went into most units knowing some of the material before it had even been taught so that they could concentrate on understanding it rather than filling in their notes.

All of our students love these concepts maps especially those students who struggle with organization and legible note taking. Before long your students will be saying, “Get your pink sheets! We can figure this out!”, just like ours did! 
