The lesson is designed to be easy to follow and combines creativity and fun as students learn about the art of Ancient Greece. Works with limited supplies too. Teach your students about Greek vases' forms, functions, and overall history while fostering their artistic abilities. The main patterns depict the sporting activities of the Olympic Games. Each student's artwork will be unique with countless possible combinations.
You will have many possibilities across various lessons: from quick and easy activities for elementary students by printing the vase templates on orange paper and focusing solely on Greek line art, to more elaborate scratch art or painted vases suitable for middle or high school students.
Preparation:
- Download/save the lesson with the slideshow and video
- You can either print it or project the roll-and-draw chart on the wall.
- Print the vase templates if your students need them (not necessary)
- Prepare art supplies of your choice
You can use different techniques and art supplies:
- Scratching technique with oil pastels
- Tempera paint or watercolor
- Markers
- Colored pencils
- Work on white paper of terracotta (brown-orange-red) paper
