Build social and emotional learning skills with over 250 daily question cards and slides. These are designed for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade learners! The questions focus on all 5 core domains of SEL: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationships, and decision-making skills.

Use this activity to start your morning meeting or morning circle! You can also have students work in partners or groups to discuss these critical social-emotional skills necessary for success.

Cards AND Slides

You get both printable cards AND digital slides in Google Slides. The digital version allows you to display one question per day on your computer or whiteboard. If you prefer, you can use the printable cards. Either way, these are perfect for morning meeting or morning circle!

Example of Cards:

• What are 3 words that describe you? (self-awareness)
• Try it! Take 3 deep breaths. How do you feel? (self-management)
• How can you show kindness today? (social awareness)
• What is one responsibility you have? (decision-making)
• How will you be a good friend today? (relationships)
• What is one dream you have for the future? (self-awareness)
• Why is it important to be honest? (decision-making)

Strategies to Use:

• Set up class centers. At each center, include different question cards.
• Use a card each morning as part of a guided class or small group discussion.
• Use cards during morning meeting.
• Group students up to discuss the task cards. Have the group then share out what they learned about the skill.
• Allow students to pick a card and random and discuss in a small group. Let the students run the group discussion.
• Have students independently read a card and respond in their journal before talking with a partner or group about it.
• Place cards on a ring to discuss whenever time allows, such as the last 5 minutes of a class or after recess, for example.
