Having a hard time making room for a research activity? Students need extra writing practice? Combine them and celebrate Earth Day with this engaging research and writing project. This guided research and writing activity will take students into the word of endangered animals. Students will research an animal from the provided list, take notes on the included graphic organizers and then complete a "Did You Know" list included ten facts they learned about from their research. To finish up, students will write a fictional narrative story from the perspective of the animal. The story includes creating a character from their animal, writing about its life, explaining why they are endangered and providing one or more solutions to fix the problem. This is an engaging way to connect research and writing in your classroom. A wonderful project to use for Earth Day or any time of the year.
