Description
This easy to read, one page passage about what causes the seasons explains:
- Earth is tilted at an angle, not straight up and down, as it rotates
- Earth travels in an orbit around the sun each year
- as it orbits, half of Earth is tilted away from the sun and the other half is tilted towards the sun
- this tilt affects the number of daylight hours and the amount of heat the Earth receives from the sun and causes the 4 seasons: winter, spring, summer, and autumn (or fall)
- while one of half of Earth experiences summer, the other half experiences winter
- the equator experiences very little seasonal changes at all because it receives direct sunlight year round
The passage includes 10 multiple choice reading comprehension questions, an answer key, and 2 self-scoring digital versions - EASEL and Google Forms. Color and black line illustrations are included to accommodate black and white printing.
