Description

September 11 can be a hard topic, but a word search can be a great tool to get your kids familiar with the vocabulary related to the event. Not only can they be used to introduce vocabulary, they can be used when students are finished with work, or even just give it as morning work as a preview of the day's lesson. This particular word search would be a great way for you to retell the events of September 11, as students can refer back to the vocabulary in a discussion or writing activity. You can pull ideas from the words I have listed to discuss the different parts of what took place. Use it however you would like in your classroom.

**There are two word searches to choose from. They have different images, but they have the same puzzle and answer key. You can pick the one that works best for your class.

Also, it can be used as a literacy center if your students write about some of the words listed on the word search. They could also use ten words in a sentence or paragraph explaining facts about the September 11, especially if you have watched a video or you have retold the story or even read a book.
