They will also compare/contrast their holiday traditions with those that they learn about in Puerto Rico. This activity is entirely in English.
Spanish Christmas, Hanukkah, and Winter Vocabulary Word Wall
Each of the 34 vocabulary words is on its own strip of paper with a picture illustrating the vocabulary word. These strips can be laminated and posted on a winter-themed bulletin board! This document is a PDF.
Spanish Christmas, Hanukkah, & Winter Vocabulary Yo Tengo...Quien Tiene
This is a fun game for students of all levels to review Christmas, Hanukkah, and winter-themed vocabulary. A student reads their card "Yo tengo Papá Noel. ¿Quién tiene Feliz Hanukkah?" and whoever has Feliz Hanukkah has to respond and read their question. The game continues until all students have read their card and the question loops back to the first student. Students can work to beat their time! This set includes 34 cards. A teacher's guide is included. The game is saved as a PDF.
Spanish Christmas, Hanukkah, & Winter Vocabulary Memory Game
Students of all levels can practice Christmas, Hanukkah, and winter-related vocabulary with Memory. A Google Slides version is included. There is a picture and a vocabulary word for students to match the pairs. The lines to cut along are thick to make it easy to cut the cards out. Cards should be copied onto card stock or thick paper and laminating before use will make them last even longer!
Spanish Christmas, Hanukkah, & Winter Vocabulary Bingo {Lotería} Game
Students of all levels can practice Christmas, Hanukkah, and winter-themed vocabulary with Bingo {Lotería}. A Google Doc version is included. There are 35 different bingo cards, with the 34 vocabulary words. Each card has 24 pictures of the vocabulary words with "libre" in the center square. There is also a Teacher's Edition to help the teacher keep track of the words s/he has called for each round.
Christmas, Hanukkah, & Winter Vocabulary Scavenger Hunt Activity
Scavenger Hunts are a great game for students to practice this vocabulary, and they can work at their own pace! A Google Doc version is included. The teacher posts half-sheets with vocabulary on them around the room and students start at any half-sheet near them, see the clipart picture, write the vocabulary word on their paper, find the vocabulary word around the room, walk over to it, see the next clipart, and repeat. Students get to get up out of their seats, rather than simply match vocabulary pictures and words on a worksheet. Some students will race each other to see who can finish first and others will take their leisurely time. The last verb students get to will lead loop them back to their first verb, so students can start anywhere in the loop of verbs. Two versions are included - one with pictures as clues, the other with a description of the vocabulary word in Spanish.
Spanish Verbs Christmas Elf Coloring Activity
Students will color in an elf based on subject pronouns. There is a conjugated verb in each part of the elf and students color each part based on the subject pronoun the verb matches with. There are 3 versions - a present tense, a preterite tense, and a future tense. This activity is easily adaptable for classes of all levels!
These activities are ideal for a variety of middle and high school Spanish classes.
