Student 'Make Your Own Book' Templates: Over 35 Differentiated Designs included!

A variety of book writing templates for all ages. Simply print (same page front and back), make copies, and they are ready for use!

All templates can be easily folded once hamburger-style along with a colored piece of paper as a cover and stapled or hole-punched to bind. Children love the freedom of creating their very own book; choosing the number of pages, the style of lined pages inside, along with how to bind their books (I let my students do all of this independently) is extremely motivating, even for the most reluctant writers!

I like to allow children easy access to these templates in my classroom. During Daily 5, Writer's Workshop, or even 'Early Finishers' time, students can 'book make,' which is a year-round treat in my room!

I give my students requirements for their books such as: Must take you 3 or more days, must have illustrations, and must use an edit/revise checklist before turning in to me for publishing. I have a basket on my desk that says "To Be Published." During Daily 5, I like to pull students aside to conference about their books and then they are officially "published" with a compliment note on the back. We put them in a special spot in our classroom so the rest of the class can read them and add compliments when they have time.
