    Description

Teach your students to summarize a fictional piece of literature by using the "Somebody Wanted But So Then" strategy. This bundle of activities includes many practice opportunities! Students will read and summarize FOURTEEN fictional pieces. This bundle has everything you need to keep your students engaged as they learn how to write a strong fiction summary. Students love the activities while teachers love the convenience of these no-prep resources that can be used year after year! These genre activities can be used for test prep, review, or introduction of the skill. It includes a variety of unique and engaging activities, including a PowerPoint, worksheets, and a readers' theater script.

Here's what teachers like you have to say about using these summarizing fiction activities with their students:

⭐️ Jamie D. said, "Super resource! Such an easy way to help the students understand how to summarize. They remember this strategy for years! I had a student tell me that his sister remembers doing this lesson with me and she is in middle school now."

⭐️ Laura B. said, "Used this fantastic resource along with your nonfiction Summarizing resource. Both are wonderful additions to my Summarizing Unit! I've been using both for 3 years now!"

⭐️ Jill S. said, "This was a highly engaging resource! The students loved it! Plus, it aligned with the standards! Great resource! I will definitely use this again in the future."

⭐️ Mr. Reynolds said, "This resource really came in handy when I needed it. Students tend to give too many details when summarizing and this resource really helped students understand how to better summarize adequately."

⭐️ Amanda A. said, "This really helped my students to better understand summarizing. The color coding and breaking down of each part helped. They were able to write great summaries using this organizer."
