Learning Objective

Students will generate synonyms and antonyms. Students will revise sentences by generating synonyms to replace overused words. Given multiple choice options, students will choose a synonym or antonym for the underlined word.

Description

Keep your students engaged as they continue to practice identifying synonyms and antonyms. This resource consists of 5 worksheets that focus on synonyms and antonyms. All answer keys are included. This worksheet packet is ready to go for you. Just print and proceed!

This worksheet packet targets the following vocabulary skills:

⭐️ Synonym and Antonym Word List: Students are given 2 lists of 21 words. Students need to generate synonyms for one list and antonyms for the other list.

⭐️ Antonyms and Multiple Meaning Words: Students are given two sentences with the same word underlined in each. Students must identify the correct antonym for each sentence. (example: light/dark vs. light/heavy)

⭐️ Using Synonyms to Improve Sentences: Thirteen sentences contain various words underlined. Students must generate a synonym that can replace the overused word.

⭐️ Synonym and Antonym Multiple Choice: 10 items Students are provided with a phrase or a sentence, and are asked to identify the synonym or antonym (from 4 choices).

⭐️ Synonym and Antonym Multiple Choice: 10 items This follows the same format as the worksheet mentioned above. (I use this as my synonym and antonym assessment.)

********This resource is available in TWO FORMATS:

  1. TRADITIONAL PRINTABLES- Print the PDF and distribute paper copies to your students to complete.
  2. TPT EASEL ACTIVITY- I created a new, colorful version for this digital format. Students can complete this activity on a device. Students read the directions and then complete the worksheet. Three of the worksheets have a fill-in-the-blank format where students type their answer in the text box. The final two worksheets have a multiple-choice format, and students move the circle to select their answer.
