What educators are saying

Used this as a bulletin board and wrote things that students should be thankful for on leaves and added them to the board.
My students thoroughly enjoyed utilizing this resource. They were actively engaged and encountered minimal difficulty in getting started. Additionally, it required minimal preparation time for my student.

BULLETIN BOARD

When the bulletin board is all done, it states, "So very thankful" or "So very grateful." To make the bulletin board more meaningful, I have included two stories and a writing activity.

STORIES

This bulletin board kit comes with two stories. The first story is King Midas and the Golden Touch. It is my own version of the story. The second story is The Fly and the Butterfly which is about a fly that wishes to be a dragonfly. But the dragonfly wishes it was a moth. The moth wishes it was a butterfly. And the butterfly wishes it was a fly. Both of these stories have a very clear theme: be grateful for what you already have. Both stories come with follow-up questions that you can use to discuss with the students.

WRITING ACTIVITY

After discussing both stories, students fill out a worksheet where they write down what they are grateful for. The printable says the following: "I used to wish for ________. But now I know that I don’t need those things to be happy!! I can be happy RIGHT NOW because I already have enough! I am so grateful/thankful for ___________." The printable also has the following quote at the bottom: "Gratitude turns what we have into enough." -Melody Beattie.

Then they pick a leaf (or turkey), write what they're grateful/thankful for on it, color it, and then cut it out. After all the students have finished with their leaves (or turkeys), you (or your students) attach them to the bulletin board. The end result? An eye-catching, colorful, and meaningful bulletin board.
