What educators are saying

Using this resource to help our students learn to compare and contrast a movie and book, as well as remember what they have read was a great thing.

Description

This Novel Study is meant to be a complete guide for the book The BFG, by Roald Dahl. This will take kids approximately six weeks to complete if you stay on the schedule that I have set up. The kids will read a chapter per day, complete vocabulary activities and graphic organizers, as well as to take a quiz on Friday of each week.

I would highly suggest that you have a book per student if possible. There are many questions in the packet that ask students to cite evidence from the text, which would require students to have a book to look at. At least having one book in a group of students would be helpful.

There are two packets included. One is the complete guide for you, which you can pick and pull the activities that you want your students to complete. The other packet is just the comprehension piece which you can print out for students.

The chapters are grouped as follows:

1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16, 17-20, 21-24

Here's what is included for each week:

*Comprehension questions for 4 chapters (students can read a chapter per day Monday-Thursday)

*A Reading Skill graphic organizer.

*Vocabulary flash cards.

*A vocabulary cloze activity.

*A Quiz for the week.

I broke the packet into chunks of 4 chapters, thinking that kids would be able to read a chapter per day.

Also included are three activities that you can use at the end of the story as a final wrap-up of the book.

Answer key not included.

Please let me know if you have any questions!
