The Innocence Project Newspaper Article Project

Founded in 1992 by visionary attorneys Peter Neufeld and Barry Scheck, the Innocence Project has been at the forefront of criminal justice reform, using DNA and other scientific advancements to prove wrongful conviction.

In this project, students choose a person that was exonerated by the Innocence Project. They will research the story of this person including the crime, why the person was found guilty, and their exoneration.

After their research, students will create 3 newspaper articles written as if they were reporters during the time of the crime. They will use their creativity to come up with these articles making sure not to write the same article 3 times.
