The documentary "The Mask You Live In" explores the ideas of masculinity, exploring the "boy crisis", interviewing adults and children about their experiences growing up and living in America. This is designed to start a classroom discussion, and for students to look at their own ideas of masculinity and ideas of what it means to be a man in todays culture.
All of the below can be used independently- you don't have to use the before/ after activities, but they are a good way to start conversations and encourage reflection.
This download includes:
-"Before Watching" Questions: preparing students prior to watching, asking them to question their own beliefs and thoughts about masculinity
-"While Watching" Questions: questions for students to answer while watching
"After Watching" Questions: asking students to reflect on their feelings, after watching or after discussing the documentary.
