This activity has been improved! This activity includes a PowerPoint presentation and a guided notes sheet for the students. While the teacher goes through the presentation the students are expected to complete the guided notes. Then, using step-by-step instructions, the students create a visual to illustrate the major implications of the Monroe Doctrine. Lastly, the students use an analogy to help illustrate the relationship between their visual and the Monroe Doctrine. This is a one-day lesson that will help the students understand the Monroe Doctrine!
Instructions: Print the guided notes sheet for students. Go through the PowerPoint presentation and have students fill in notes while you present. Have them complete the processing activity (Monroe Doctrine Analogy). Have them share in small groups.
