What educators are saying

I used this for my child development class. My high schoolers can be very competitive when it comes to games so this activity kept them very engaged! It was also very eye-opening for students as they realized how expensive a new baby can be.
Students really enjoyed this during our parenting unit. Some of the prices were off but that's an easy fix.

Description

A topic that needs to be talked about... The PRICE of raising a child. This is such a fun game that the students always enjoy doing. It really opens the eyes up of the students to help realize how much really goes into raising a child.

Directions for in person:

-Show the slide of the item

-Give students about 10 seconds to guess (groups are optional). Count down from 3 and then tell them to raise either their personal white boards or a piece of a paper with their guess of how much the item costs.

-Once everyone has their answers up, switch to the next slide to view the actual cost.

-Whoever has the closest guess (without going over the actual price-- even by a penny) gets the point

-Continue the game like this for all items

Directions for virtual:

-Show the slide of the item

-Give students about 10 seconds to guess (groups are optional). Count down from 3 and then tell them to type in the chat their guess for how much the item costs

-Once everyone has typed their answers, switch to the next slide to view the actual cost.

-Whoever has the closest guess (without going over the actual price-- even by a penny) gets the point

-Continue the game like this for all items

Feel free to move around items or add/replace anything in there to make it yours!
