Description
Teaching theme can be difficult because it's something students struggle to understand. These learning stations can change that as they are designed to teach students a process of understanding theme that they can apply to any text they read.
In the texts students read, there is rarely a clearly stated "moral at the end of the story." Instead, there are steps that must be followed so they can discover the author's message or theme. These learning stations take students through these steps, and then ask them to put the puzzle pieces together to figure out the theme of a story.
In this resource you will get:
- Theme station titles/tents for your tables
- Editable theme task cards
- Puzzle pieces for understanding theme
- A slideshow to guide your instruction
- An option to do the stations online
You can read about how I used these stations in my high school English class HERE
See what other teachers are saying:
♥ This is brilliant! My students struggled this year to write about theme and I used this for To Kill A Mockingbird and it really helped them focus on the theme. Great resource.
♥ Thank you so much for this activity; the results have blown me away. Even my lower-performing English 11 classes have knocked this out of the park!
