What educators are saying

My students loved this and got very into the arguing and negotiations. They locked in the key details about the assassination's impact on the start of the war and it was the perfect intro to our WWI unit.

Description

UPDATE August 2023: The product is now a zip folder and a raw Word Doc conversation of the PDF has been included. This will allow you to edit any of the materials, though the formating may need to be worked with a bit.

This is a simulation of the situations in Europe towards the start of World War 1. Through this simulation, students will understand the different factors that played a role in the start of World War 1.

Students will work in small groups to represent major nations in Europe at the start of WWI; either Great Britain, France, Russia, Germany, Serbia, or Austria-Hungary. They will have to work together to build national unity, and figure out how to balance their nation's interests with the interest of other nations as they negotiate to create alliances and peace treaties.

Will their efforts be enough to prevent a world war?
