#6. Persuasive Writing: Persuasive Writing Using Book Reviews

This unit was written to integrate opinion writing and reading in an effort to get students to think critically about the books they read AND communicate those thoughts within a persuasive argument. Students will select a book to recommend to a friend and will be charged with writing a persuasive writing piece. They will be provided categories that enable them to select specific elements/aspects of a book that make that book a favorite, elements such as character analysis, plot development, author intent/craft and other elements. Students will become engaged and will leave this unit as stronger writers AND more reflective readers.
