Description
Poetry Writing! Telephone Number Poetry is created by writing a telephone number vertically down a page. It can be an actual telephone number, or one made up for the poetry assignment. Students then write poetry to match the line number. The syllables of the words in each line must be the same as the telephone number. Students count the syllables and revise the poem until all numbers match.
Students may choose to share their poems during Author’s Chair the last ten minutes of the period.
Great activity to create before Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, or Mother/Father Day. Provides a no prep lesson for a substitute.
An exit pass is included at the end of the powerpoint.
Includes PowerPoint Slides, Google Slides, PDF, and PINGS.
This lesson has been successful in my English 10 classroom for many years and is often listed in the "Ten Things You Must Continue To Do Next Year" survey at the end of the year.
