Discover Fingerprints: A Science Center for Primary Grades
Discover Fingerprints in a fun, hands-on science center that is appropriate for students in the primary grades.

How easily do diseases spread? Lab activity
Show your kids how diseases like the flu or common cold are passed by facilitating this fun activity.
Each student is given a dixie cup filled with water. One of the cups has mix of cornstarch and water in a diluted solution. *note - you want there to be just enough cornstarch so that the water isn't cloudy. I also use white plastic cups as opposed to paper.
You instruct students to exchange liquids by pouring the water back and forth between their cups a couple of times.

Fingerprint Science Lab
This is an investigation into fingerprint types and occurrences. It is a science and math lesson that involves the students classifying their own fingerprints and finding out the most common type of fingerprint. It takes anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the amount of background knowledge the students have. The students also have the opportunity to work with a buddy and as a class. This could be done as a science fair project!
