Finding the Main Idea of a Passage
This SMARTboard lesson takes children through the process of finding clues in a passage, and then using these clues to find the main idea of a passage. It is a great resource for ELA test prep. There are a lot of interactive Smartboard components to keep students interested and involved. ABC Order to the 3rd Letter - Button Up SMARTBOARD
This SMARTboard activity provides practice in alphabetizing words to the 3rd and 4th letter. Students move the words to the line in alphabetical order. Answer slides are provided after each question with color coding of letters making it easy to see why the words fall into the order they do. Always a good skill to practice and review. Dictionary Guide Words Practice 3rd Grade L.3.2g
This is a Smartboard activity designed to review how to use dictionary guide words. Slides show lists of words and asks students to find which word would fit into the alphabetical order list. Other slides ask which word does not belong between two guide words. This activity is made to review the Language standard L.3.2g from Common Core.

Noun and Verb Identification Lesson
I don't know about you, but when the kids come into my classroom they can give examples of nouns and verbs very easily. They become frustrated when they have to identify the nouns and verbs within a sentence. This is a stepping stone lesson to them actually breaking sentences about by subjects and predicates.
I am sure this can be used in many grades because if they don't have it by 4th grade, it may not stick for a while.

Prefix Suffix Spinner Game for Smartboard
This is just a fun game for prefix, suffix that is written in Smartboard software.
Directions: After the spinner lands, the player must think of a word containing the prefix he/she has landed on. Write the words on the slide with your pens. As an extension activity students can write the words in their interactive journals. As a review activity, teachers may want to remind students of the meaning of the prefix or suffix.
