This resource is to help them prepare for all domains (reading, writing, speaking and listening) of the English Language Proficiency Assessment for California. They can get used to the format of the assessment, as well as practice the skills they need to be successful on the assessment.
The writing domain includes:
- 5 stories to complete with scaffolding along with a teacher script for each story
- 5 informational texts with diagrams, space for writing, and teacher scripts
- 10 pictures with space for students to write about each picture
The reading domain includes:
- 15 pictures with word options to match with pictures
- 15 pictures with sentence options to match with pictures
- 5 short informational passages with three questions each and teacher scripts
- 5 literary passages with three questions each and teacher scripts
- 5 informational passages with three questions each and teacher scripts
The listening domain is the same in kindergarten and 1st grade. It includes:
- 10 short exchanges with a picture and comprehension question for each
- 5 stories with dialogue and 3 comprehension questions for each story
- 5 academic oral presentations with 3 comprehension questions for each
*each part of this resources comes with a teacher script
The speaking domain includes:
- 10 school-themed scenes with 6 comprehension questions per scene (same idea, but different practice questions than the kindergarten assessment)
- 10 opinion questions with pictures (same idea, but different practice questions than the kindergarten assessment)
- 5 narratives with 4 picture scenes for each narrative
- 5 academic presentations with 2 pictures to go along with the presentation
