Description

This error analysis algebra activity will make your students really think about 1-variable inequalities. Students identify incorrect statements when presented with 1-step and 2-step inequalities, then fix each error on their answer sheets.

On five of the cards there are 3 inequalities and their possible graphs (statements). On the other 5 cards, there is a graph and their possible inequalities (statements). Students need to figure out which of the 3 statements on each card is false (the "lie"), then correct the false statement on their answer sheet by either drawing a correct graph or writing a correct inequality.

This activity gives students practice solving 1- and 2-step inequalities, along with recognizing errors when they occur.

There are 10 cards, a student answer sheet and an answer key included.
