Description
This error analysis activity will make your students really think about the Pythagorean Theorem. Students identify incorrect statements about the hypotenuse or missing leg of a right triangle. Students are then asked to fix the errors they find.
On each card there are 3 right triangles, as well as 3 statements about each triangle's hypotenuse or missing leg. Students need to figure out which of the 3 statements is false (the "lie"), then correct the false statements on their answer sheet.
This activity gives students practice finding missing side lengths of right triangles as well as identifying errors as they arise. Some answers require students to round to the nearest hundredth.
There are 10 cards, a student answer sheet and an answer key included.
