What educators are saying

Thank you so much for creating this resource! My students were struggling with long division, but your scaffolded approached really helped them improve their practice with the standard algorithm. They love the joke/riddle pages too!
I love the scaffolding in these pages. The kids really enjoyed the riddles, it motivated them to want to do long division. With the help of this resource, my students said they thought long division was so fun.

    Description

This resource has everything you'll need for your students to learn long division. If you use these materials, you can be assured that your students will become more fluent and confident with the long division algorithm. As a teacher of fourth grade for almost 30 years, I can tell you that long division is easily the most challenging 4th grade math calculation your students will learn. It involves a complicated (sometimes confusing) method and requires a strong fluency of basic facts for not just for division, but also multiplication, and subtraction, too. To master the steps requires a lot of practice and repetition.

    This bundle includes:

    • Practice pages
    • Worksheets
    • Note taking pages
    • Task cards
    • Kahoot game links
    • Word problems

Included in this bundle are math notebook pages to introduce the skill, differentiated practice pages to practice, and task cards to review and assess. Included are a dozen different activities to practice using both the partial quotient method (big 7 method) and the standard algorithm for long division. This bundle covers the common core standard for fourth grade for division which is one-digit divisors with up to four-digit dividends both with and without remainders.

Find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
Find whole-number quotients of whole numbers with up to four-digit dividends and two-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
Solve multistep word problems posed with whole numbers and having whole-number answers using the four operations, including problems in which remainders must be interpreted. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.
