Each lesson is geared to be a week-long study and begins by revealing a “gremlin” – a widespread and common error found in student writing. Collections Close Reader Selection Quizzes - This teaching unit includes quizzes for each selection in the 7th grade edition of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s Collections Close Reader. We use Collections as our literature book, and the Close Reader workbook is a wonderful companion. However, there were no tests included with the textbook for the selections included in this workbook. We have created a quiz to accompany each selection, and you can download them now and use them for years to come! In our classrooms, we assign a selection from the Close Reader each week. Students read and annotate the text throughout the week for homework. We grade their annotations. Then, on Fridays, students take the quiz based on that selection. All quizzes are printable and on Google Forms!
