Description

Students add and subtract 2-digit numbers with and without regrouping in 2 math pennant activities that double as student-created classroom décor. Students can choose their addition and subtraction strategies (HTO, expanded form, number line), or you can direct them to practice a specific strategy.

You can give each student the same pennant as a warm-up or exit ticket, or differentiate for students by giving each a different pennant (problems get progressively harder as the pennant numbers increase). Or, you can give groups of students a stack of pennants to complete, color, cut out and hang along a string in your classroom.

There are 30 2-digit addition and 30 2-digit subtraction math pennants included in this download (2 separate activities). The download also includes optional student answer sheets and answer keys for each activity.

In the addition set, addition problems include:

  • 10 pennants with no regrouping
  • 10 pennants with regrouping, sums less than 100
  • 10 pennants with regrouping, sums greater than 100
  • student answer sheet
  • answer key

In the subtraction set, subtraction problems include:

  • 15 pennants with no regrouping
  • 15 pennants with regrouping
  • student answer sheet
  • answer key

Students can be in charge of cutting out the pennants. Groups can compete to see which group can complete the most pennants or your entire class can add pennants to one string as they complete each one.
