Description
Students add and subtract integers in this activity that doubles as a fun way to display student work. There are 3 problems on each pennant, each using the same numbers. For example, on one pennant are the three problems:
3 - 7 =
-3 - 7 =
-3 + 7 =
By completing all three problems on each pennant, students will start to see the patterns that develop when adding and subtracting integers. Once a pennant is complete, it can be hung along a string in your classroom to show the world that, "Hey, we know integers!"
(This activity is included at a discount in Integers mini-bundle)
There are 30 pennants, an optional student sheet and an answer key. Each group of students can be given a set of pennants, scissors and either glue, tape or a stapler. Students can be in charge of cutting out the pennants. Groups can compete to see which group can complete the most pennants or your entire class can add pennants to one string as they complete each one. You may also choose to have your students color their pennants to add to your classroom décor.
