Description

This download includes some great games for your students to practice addition concepts! The games and concepts are detailed and shown in the preview. There are 5 different games/activities.

This includes:

Lady bug Addition - Students count the lady bugs and match the card to its number sentence card - There will be 8 matches

Spin and Add - Students use a paperclips to spin two numbers. They add them together to find the sum and record it on the recording sheet

Jiggle and Drop - You will need 2 sided counters and a small cup. Students place 10 counters in the cup then jiggle it and drop them out. They record the red and yellow sides on the recording sheet and then write the sum.

Add in Any Order - 8 sets of cards included. Students will find the two number sentences that go together to match the sum. This is an introduction to commutative property.

I Build it You Build it - This is a more challenging game. You will need two different color counters. Students pick a card from the stack and create a link to go with that number as the sum, then the partner builds the other number sentence to go with it. For example, if a student picks up the card with a 5, that student could build a link with 2 yellow counters and 3 blue counters. Then their partner would make a link with 3 yellow and 2 blue. They would write 2+3=5 and 3+2=5 on the recording sheet.

Use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract. If 8 + 3 = 11 is known, then 3 + 8 = 11 is also known. (Commutative property of addition.) To add 2 + 6 + 4, the second two numbers can be added to make a ten, so 2 + 6 + 4 = 2 + 10 = 12. (Associative property of addition.)
Relate counting to addition and subtraction (e.g., by counting on 2 to add 2).
