Description

The algebra 2 homework in this bundle help students think deeply about their work and are meant to spark conversation during review. Students are asked to think critically about algebra 2 through reflecting on student work that is shown on the sheets, finding errors in student work, justifying steps taken and explaining answers using words from word banks. Students are also asked to give themselves tips to remember how to solve problems they'd expect to see on tests and writing about where they are doing well.

The sheets can also be used as in-class work to get students thinking about and discussing common errors and ways to explain the concepts they are learning.

Standards covered:

HSN-CN : the complex number system

HSA-SSE : seeing structure in expressions

HSA-APR : arithmetic with polynomials & rational expressions

HSA-REI : reasoning with equations & inequalities

HSF-LE : linear, quadratic & exponential models

HSF-IF : interpreting functions

HAS-CED : creating equations

HSF-BF : building functions

There are 40 homework sheets included with their answer keys. Answers can vary between students, so for all of the reflective questions suggested answers are given. The preview is 3 of the homework sheets that you can download and try with your students that cover HSA-APR.B.3, HSA-REI.D.11 and HSF-IF.C.7e.

Use the relation π˜ͺΒ² = –1 and the commutative, associative, and distributive properties to add, subtract, and multiply complex numbers.
Solve quadratic equations with real coefficients that have complex solutions.
Extend polynomial identities to the complex numbers. For example, rewrite 𝘹² + 4 as (𝘹 + 2π˜ͺ)(𝘹 – 2π˜ͺ).
Interpret expressions that represent a quantity in terms of its context.
Use the structure of an expression to identify ways to rewrite it. For example, see 𝘹⁴ – 𝘺⁴ as (𝘹²)Β² – (𝘺²)Β², thus recognizing it as a difference of squares that can be factored as (𝘹² – 𝘺²)(𝘹² + 𝘺²).
