Are you looking for ways to make your Ancient China Unit more hands-on and engaging, while also teaching your students about the history of Ancient China? If so, this printable Ancient China Timeline Activity is the resource you need!
In this interactive timeline project, students will be constructing a timeline that features short reading passages and images that pertain to the Xia Dynasty, Shang Dynasty, Zhou Dynasty, Warring States Period, Qin Dynasty, and Han Dynasty.
First, students will tape the two timeline handouts together to form a timeline that spans over 2,000 years. Then, they will read through six short reading passages about each dynasty or era of history, and use the provided dates to place each passage in the correct location along the timeline. After they have glued down each of the reading passages, your students will place the images in the correct spots, based upon the information described in the reading passage.
Not only will this activity give students the chance to physically build a timeline, but they will have fun doing it and create a learning tool that can be used throughout your unit!
