What educators are saying

I liked the colors and pictures used on the worksheet. The reading was easy to follow. I like how it gave another historical opinion on the spread of the plague. So many times, we were told it was because of rats, rats, rats ha! Students need to know that opinions can change over time.
Used as a reading to introduce the black death. Worked fine, simple reading, had students answer questions. Expanded on reading the next few days.

Description

This Black Plague reading and worksheet provides simple, fascinating overview on the Bubonic Plague or Black Death. It explains how it began and spread, its symptoms, and the effect it had on European society.

It makes for an excellent homework or in-class reading assignment because it can be completed without any additional resources. Following the reading, students complete 7 reading comprehension questions of varying levels based on what they read. An answer key is provided for your convenience.

This download also includes a Google Drive digital version of the activity! If you're in a paperless classroom or just want to integrate more digital resources, you can use the provided link to bring a digital version of this resource into Google Classroom!

This resource goes very well with my Black Death Rules for Slowing the Spread Lesson that connects the plague to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both activities can also be downloaded as part of the Europe's Middle Ages & Medieval Unit Bundle!
