Description
Students practice combining like terms in this activity that doubles as student-created classroom décor! Pennants ask students to:
- find the perimeter of a shape with polynomial side lengths (15 pennants)
- simplify a given polynomial expression by combining like terms (15 pennants)
Some pennants ask students to use the distributive property before combining like terms. Students then practice evaluating their expressions given numerical values.
Included are 30 pennants and 2 blanks to write your own combining like terms problems, an optional student answer sheet and answer key. Each group of students can be given a set of pennants, scissors and either glue, tape or a stapler. Students can be in charge of cutting out the pennants. Groups can compete to see which group can complete the most pennants or your entire class can add pennants to one string as they complete each one. You may also choose to have your students color their pennants to add to your classroom décor.
