Compassion Activity: Classroom Guidance Lesson on Being Compassionate

Compassion Activity: This classroom guidance lesson encourages compassion for others. Begin with a demonstration using marshmallows and ice cream to show students how thinking only about ourselves blocks us from having compassion. Students complete an individual handout to consider how they would feel in the situations of others. Debrief and discuss how compassion positively benefits the classroom community. This activity works well for classroom guidance lessons or small group counseling to help kids understand how to show compassion.
