Description

Do your students struggle to use context clues in passages to determine the meaning of unknown words and phrases? This resource contains 6 different activities that help students identify context clues as they search for the meaning of unknown words and phrases found in informational text. Students are introduced to five different types of context clues including inferences, definitions, examples, antonyms, and synonyms. Using a mix of nonfiction texts, students will determine the meaning of unknown words using context clues and demonstrate their understanding of vocabulary by relating meanings to synonyms and antonyms.

Through a variety of articles and 14 pages of fun and engaging activities, students will learn how to use context clues found in informational text to effectively analyze the meaning of unknown words and phrases. Each reading passage includes a high-interest, curriculum-based topic that students will love to read and learn about - perfect for students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.
