Description
This unit is titled "Crime and Punishment Bundle - 17 Products"
It includes 17 products. The unit begins with an activity introducing law and order in Ancient Rome where they design a modern day diorama using characters from The Simpsons to illustrate Magistrates, the 12 Tables and so forth. The next lesson explores Anglo-Saxon law and order and there is a History Mystery designed to get students to understand the fact from the fiction in the Robin Hood legend. The unit includes a detailed examination of Matthew Hopkins - Witchfinder General - and students then create a Tom and Jerry style cat and mouse story to showcase the changing relationship between smugglers and authorities. There is then a chronology rollercoaster lesson on transportation and a significance lesson in which students debate who was the most important prisoner reformer (Bentham, Fry, Howard, and Dickens) in the form of a TV chat show. There is an escape room lesson on Peterloo and a detailed lesson on the Bloody Code and the reasons for the rise in executions in the 18th Century. A lesson then focuses on the Tolpuddle Martyrs and students complete a blog activity after a Diamond 9 style task to explain the viewpoints of Judge Williams and George Loveless. The unit then moves on to explore early Peelers and how effective they were as well as my best-selling lesson on TPT - the Jack the Ripper mystery. The unit progresses to explore change and continuity with a Gallery Walk lesson on Conscientious objectors in the First and Second World Wars, as well as an exploration into crime in the 1920s in the USA (Case study on Al Capone) and Shanghai. The final lesson in the unit is on Derek Bentley and the rights and wrongs of his execution. I hope your students enjoy these materials as much as mine do.
Every review you leave on TPT earns you credits to buy free resources, so I’d be so grateful if you can find time to add a positive review if you enjoyed this bundle.
