What educators are saying

Overall this is a really good activity to use as an intrudcution to criminal profiling. It is well laid out and organized, and was wonderful for my true crime elective course.

Description

This is an engaging and recently updated PowerPoint presentation, focusing on criminal profiling. This presentation has been successful in introducing and explaining criminal profiling with a range of different classes. This presentation enables students to understand the purpose, process and what is included when forensic psychologists, law enforcement and behavior analysts join forces!

In this PowerPoint, you will find the following:

- Definition of criminal profiling

- The purpose of a criminal profile

- The parties included in the creation of a criminal profile

- What is included in a criminal profile

- Information about behavior analysis

- Information about the FBI's Behavior Science Unit

- Organized vs Disorganized Crimes/Criminals

- Information about analysing an offender's behavior during four different phases of a crime

- How a criminal profile is compiled

- Two potential activities you might like your students to complete

CW: Due to the nature of this topic, this presentation does include the names of different violent crimes. This presentation can be edited if you need to remove or censor terms for your classes. There are no inappropriate images or graphic descriptions.

In this PPT I have also suggested a fantastic episode that covers a real-life case where a criminal profile was used to assist in the apprehension of a serial arsonist. My students were hooked! It is available on different services and is a fantastic example of profiling assisting in solving a case!
