Depth and Complexity Literature Discussion Prompts
- PDF
What educators are saying
Description
Are you tired of flimsy book talks and group discussions? Bring focus, energy, and insight to your students' literature discussions with these prompts. Use them with any fiction text to facilitate thinking about characters, plot, theme, writing style, and real-world connections.
What's Included
You’ll find a separate page for each element of the Depth & Complexity framework, filled with questions that students can address in discussion and/or writing. Print these out on colored paper or card stock and laminate them for years of use. You can use the question pages for individual students, groups, or even projected during a class discussion.
You’ll also find Depth & Complexity frames: graphic organizers with a central question that is surrounded by supporting questions. These are perfect for group discussions or even Socratic Seminar preparation. Use the six pre-made frames or create your own with the blank frame included.
Finally, be sure to have students respond individually. Two options are provided: a whole-page response and a half-page exit ticket. Each option is flexible enough to use again and again.
