What educators are saying

My students loved using this resource for test prep before state testing! They were challenged and engaged.
Thank you for creating an easy-to-use resource that is engaging and fun for students. It saved lots of time in planning and creating. I love alternative ways to teach ELA skills.

Description

As teachers, we all love to give our students engaging activities to review skills within our classrooms. Escape rooms are extremely engaging, but also help you to see who is still struggling with what skills! Win, Win.

However, if you’re anything like me, some days you’re just #TeacherTired. Stuffing 50 envelopes to hide around the room just made me even more tired thinking about, but at the same time, I still wanted my students to get to participate in these Classroom Escape Room or Break Out Room style activities! This is why I adapted the way I do “Escape Rooms” in my class!

My escape rooms are truly LOW PREP. I used to call the Low Prep, but after much feedback from others - the name has been changed to PRINT & GO! They are truly No Prep for you, other than printing them out, and your kids will be reviewing in no time!

Also, this now includes two DIGITAL versions of the Classroom Escape challenges. One version allows students to solve each challenge on Google Slides and then use the self-checking Google Form before submitting their slides for you to see. The other version solely allows students to submit their answers via Google Forms, so you can see their answers. Either way you choose, all you have to do is download and share the link with your students!

This Digital and Print & Go Classroom Escape Room is an End of Year - Reading Review. I provide my students with 45 minutes to "breakout" or "escape the classroom" by solving all of the challenges before time runs out! However, you are able to tweak the time to fit your students' needs. You can break it up over a few days or do it all in one class period.

This particular Classroom Escape covers reading standards that would fit the needs for 3rd and 4th grade classes. However, I have gotten much feedback that it also works for 5th graders as a spiral review.

There's not an easier or more engaging way to get your students ready for end of year state testing/ STAAR testing/ or whatever state tests you take without the kill and drill of practice tests and worksheets! It also helps to encourage collaboration and higher order thinking. In my opinion, it's the best test prep because kids love it, it's effective in reviewing the standards, and it's seriously low prep for the teacher.

Teacher reviews:

"I love this resource! I'm currently a long-term sub for a GT teacher, and now that it's towards the end of the year, I've been trying to find some creative, engaging, and educational activities for my older students. Now normally some of these kiddos are a little tough to get focused (i'm a sub, they know they can expect a little more casual atmosphere when they come to group, and they're so excited to share their ideas that sometimes they just can't keep em in!). BUT when I did one "escape challenge" with them that the teacher had left, it was like MAGIC- they were focused, engaged, and worked well as a team. I knew I had to get my hands on another! It's so hard to find an escape challenge that really does provide challenging puzzles and educational grade-level content, but I think this one just might do it! SO excited to run through this one with my students."

"I waited until my class did this before giving feedback. I have a range of learners from very high to very, very low. It was perfect for all levels with some very minor adjustments (time limit increased/decreased, level of support on hints, gave extra hints to strugglers, etc). It was fabulous! When I told my kids it was STAAR review they didn't believe me. :) Even my off task/behavior problems were 100% engaged and successful. Plus, they were so quiet while doing it because they didn't want to give anything away to other groups. This is a must have!!!"

"I used this for Literacy night at my school where parents and kids of all grade levels came. I adapted this to use in an open house setting and only used one of the challenges for sake of time. The parents and kids were so engaged and loved it! I even had kids from lower and higher grades come in and finish the challenge. No one gave up and left, they all wanted to finish it! I even had a parent ask if they could take an extra copy home for their other kids. I can't wait to use your other escape rooms in class!"

"I used this for STAAR review last year, and I plan on using it again this year. My kids loved it and they couldn't believe we were reviewing at all. I've also purchased your bundle of these, and I love them all! Definitely worth the money!"
