What educators are saying

Used this activity as a review of functions for my Algebra classes; the students loved it. They were all able to finish within a half hour or so. Great activity!

Description

Students get moving finding domain and range in this activity. Students can start on any of the 20 posters. On the first poster, they will find domain or range (it will be noted on the poster which they should find), mark it on their answer sheet (included) and then find their answer on the top of another poster in the room. They will then find the domain or range on this poster and continue until they have found all domains and ranges. Students also mark on their answer sheets whether or not each relation is a function. Relations include: graphs, tables, mappings, scatter plots and coordinate pairs.

**Domains and ranges for graphs are written in inequalities (please see thumbnail photos). For the same activity in interval notation, please see Domain and Range Scavenger Hunt. Full answer key included.

Understand that a function is a rule that assigns to each input exactly one output. The graph of a function is the set of ordered pairs consisting of an input and the corresponding output.
Understand that a function from one set (called the domain) to another set (called the range) assigns to each element of the domain exactly one element of the range. If 𝘧 is a function and 𝘹 is an element of its domain, then 𝘧(𝘹) denotes the output of 𝘧 corresponding to the input 𝘹. The graph of 𝘧 is the graph of the equation 𝘺 = 𝘧(𝘹).
