Description

Students find the domain and range of graphs in this math pennant activity that doubles as classroom decor. Once a pennant is complete, it can be hung along a string in your classroom to show the world that, "Hey, we know domain and range!" Students also identify each graph as being either a function or not a function.

Included are 30 pennants (+ 4 additional pennants with blank grids), a student answer sheet and answer key. Each pennant is in the shape of a cornucopia to make the activity a fun way to celebrate Thanksgiving. Each group of students can be given a set of pennants, scissors and either glue, tape or a stapler. Students can be in charge of cutting out the pennants. Groups can compete to see which group can complete the most pennants or your entire class can add pennants to one string as they complete each one. You may also choose to have your students color their pennants to add to your holiday classroom decor.

Answer key is in inequalities notation. Please email if you need interval notation.

Understand that a function is a rule that assigns to each input exactly one output. The graph of a function is the set of ordered pairs consisting of an input and the corresponding output.
Understand that a function from one set (called the domain) to another set (called the range) assigns to each element of the domain exactly one element of the range. If 𝘧 is a function and 𝘹 is an element of its domain, then 𝘧(𝘹) denotes the output of 𝘧 corresponding to the input 𝘹. The graph of 𝘧 is the graph of the equation 𝘺 = 𝘧(𝘹).
