    Double-consonants floss rule words or double consonants spelling rule phonics worksheets that are fun and engaging for your phonics balanced literacy classroom! This product features double consonant spelling rules -ff, -ll, -ss and -zz and provides many activities including worksheets, games and sorting activities. It includes a poster that explains the floss rule to hang in your classroom for student reference. This is a great supplemental resource to go with Science of Reading, Orton Gillingham program or any phonics program you implement in your classroom.

    The hands on activities are perfect for literacy centers and small group intervention or phonics groups. Worksheets are great for additional practice during class or to use as homework. This product could be used to help challenge students in kindergarten or first grade. Many different activities with -ll, -ff, -zz, -ss for extra practice.

    The double consonant words used in this resource mostly follow the floss rule. Many words are repeated in this resource to help students remember the spelling patterns. This helps students master the phonics rule and apply it when writing and reading.

    ⭐️FLOSS RULE CRAFT⭐️

    Hands on phonics craft that helps students review the floss rule with double consonants ff, ll, ss, and zz! This hands on activity provides great review and can be completed whole group or small group. It is appropriate for first or second grade students practicing this skill. Students read the words or look at the pictures to sort each of the four floss rule double consonant words.

    There are pictures and words for each double consonant ending. You can differentiate this by having students glue the pictures, words or BOTH on the floss box.

    Craft directions:

    Cut out each floss box piece and outline. Glue the floss box outline on a separate sheet of paper. Glue the two floss box pieces on top of there and put glue in the GLUE HERE boxes. Cut out and sort the pictures and words and glue them under the correct floss rule double consonant tooth! Read all the words when you are finished!

    ⭐️FLOSS RULE FlUENCY STRIPS⭐️

    Fun activity for teaching the phonics floss rule! These fluency reading strips are the perfect activity for supplemental phonics instruction, partner work, literacy centers, morning work, early finishers, etc.! Students use the word strips to read each floss rule word. Simply insert the strip in the double consonant sheet and read each word as you pull the words through. Use the recording sheet to write and illustrate 4 words of the students choice!

    HOW TO USE:

    Teacher: Print on colored paper or you can use white paper (for best results use thick card stock paper). The strips are labeled with ff, ll, ss, or zz for easy matching. For example, the student would find the ll piece (with the girl or boy) and find an ll strip of paper to place through and read the words.

    Words Included:

    FF - (3 strips) cliff, puff, staff, sniff, fluff, whiff, huff, buff, off, muff

    LL - (3 strips) spill, bull, will, grill, doll, fill, ill, smell, drill, thrill, dill

    SS - (3 strips) mass, pass, less, mess, miss, kiss, hiss, boss, toss, moss, loss, fuss, dress

    ZZ - (2 strips) buzz, fuzz, fizz, jazz, frizz

    *tip: use card stock paper and a utility knife to cut a slit in the piece
